Vaughan, Maryland, homicide detectives are investigating a “suspicious death” after a body was found Saturday afternoon in a rear apartment of the townhouse.
The Montgomery County Police Department confirmed the death in a statement Sunday evening. There have been no other updates, and police did not immediately respond to a message seeking further information.
The man’s body was found around 1:15 p.m. Saturday in the upstairs of the rear apartment of a two-story townhouse on the 1900 block of Eastridge Road, in a neighborhood north of the White Flint Metro station.
The body was that of a black man in his 20s, according to the department.
“It appears that the victim was living in the townhouse in the rear area of the unit when the discovery was made,” the police statement said.
No further details were immediately available, and authorities said they have “no suspect information at this time.”
Two neighbors said they saw the Montgomery County police respond to the crime scene Saturday afternoon.
Andrea McCallum lives two doors down from the man’s home. She said she heard sirens and police cars down the street Saturday afternoon, and saw ambulances and detectives outside the man’s home at about 1:30 p.m.
“It’s scary to know it’s right next door,” McCallum said.
McCallum also said she noticed the man’s two dogs running outside around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, and said that the two men frequently watched soccer games with a large, older neighbor in the townhouse next door, with another woman.
