(FoxNews.com) US middle-distance runner Allyson Felix has received a lot of publicity for using social media to speak out against the injustice of sexual assault and domestic violence.

But when it comes to her athletic career, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist says it is unlikely that she will voice her opinion on anything relating to sports policy.

“I’m not really into anything like that, I never have been,” Felix told FoxNews.com on Monday at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. “I’m not a spokesperson for anything, I’m not an activist, I’m just here to do my job.”

Felix and U.S. team members Felix, 43, and Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, 45, helped give television interviews to promote the opening of a new training facility for women athletes in Los Angeles.

The facility is a partnership between the non-profit Nike Women in Sport and the sports giant’s California affiliate, Nike West.

Felix, a six-time Olympic gold medalist and 10-time US national champion, said that the dedication of the co-workers in L.A. was what motivated her to finally close the deal on the site.

“For me I think that was part of the process,” Felix said. “There’s been a lot of work and a lot of collaborations and just reaching out and really wanting to see something happen so now that it’s finally here it’s very exciting.”

“I’m excited to take the team to L.A.,” Van Dyken-Rouen, who has a base of operations in Florida, added. “It’s not the Olympics, but you still get to use sports as a way to do something that you believe in and also get a chance to compete at a certain level.”
