Detective Sergeant Michael Thomas, the head of Homicide’s Homicide Unit, explained that not much more information was available at this time.
“It’s important to note that when these incidents occur we don’t call them shootings because we call them homicides,” Thomas said. “This was a homicide and then the ballistic lab, the forensics team are going to have to assess that and we’ll draw conclusions from there.”
This is the second homicide of the year in Brampton, just across the street from where the incident occurred, after a weekend shooting left two men dead.
Prior to this incident, the only homicide police had investigated in the city this year was that of 25-year-old Pravin Bathija, who was shot to death in a laundromat in April.
In January, several men were shot and killed on a Brampton, Ont., street.
A man died and another man was injured Sunday afternoon after being shot in the area of Klinevale Road in Brampton, just across the street from where the shooting took place late Saturday night.
Other nearby areas were cordoned off.
